Flock Focus Friday, 8/23/13

It was a difficult week here at Blazing Trails Farm with the unexpected passing of Brutus, my six month old Mille Fleur Serama cockerel. He had a special place in my heart I am thankful for the time I had to appreciate his beauty, confidence and spunk while he was here. He was a joy to photograph and I have chosen to celebrate his life by continuing to share his larger-than-life personality through them. RIP little buddy.

This is how Brutus would have wanted to be remembered. ☺
I know Brutus would have been thrilled to know that his necropsy report noted his “well developed testicles.”  Atta boy, Brutus.

I don't know how I missed your posts about Brutus. I am so sorry for your loss; he was a lovely little rooster.

hugs. it sounds to me like heart failure/ heart attack. sudden decline then a last jerk (kick) and they are gone. i would find some birds not doing well and i pick it up and it would die in my hands… not fun but at least they held out long enough for me to say goodbye. (also have experience with chicken seizures)

Thank you. Some have a stronger hold on our hearts than others and Brutus may have been small, but…

I'm so sorry for your loss. He sure was handsome, and your photo montage & tribute is just beautiful. I lost my favorite 5 1/2 y/o hen Persephone, 2 months ago unexpectedly, and I am still sad. It's never easy losing our feathered friends. May he rest…..
