Flock Focus Friday, 1/30/15

We have been getting hammered with frigid temps and snow storms here in New England, including a certified blizzard last week and are now staring down the barrel of another couple of feet of snow tomorrow night!
The Blizzard of 2015
Looking back at my photos from January I can't believe how nutty it was: Doc Brown came down with a mystery illness that had me looking at her back for several days to determine whether she was still breathing. After days of hand feeding and prayer, she miraculously recovered. Blaze & Chevy got hit with frostbite which put them out of commission and in the basement Mancave where they remain with Doc until temperatures warm up. Mr. Chicken Chick and I had whirlwind weekend at the Northeastern Poultry Congress meeting so many of my amazing peeps, followed days later by a scheduled surgery that put me out of commission for a bit. Finally, we have been getting hammered with frigid temps and snow storms here in New England, including a certified blizzard last week and are now staring down the barrel of another couple of feet of snow tomorrow night! Whew! I'm exhausted just thinking about it all. I'm very much looking forward to a mostly boring February, please!
Doc Brown and me.

After Doc's crisis passed, she joined the fellas in an adjacent condo in the basement.

Today will require either an endless supply of coffee or bail money.
I love that coffee has the power to make me believe I'm in a good mood for about 30 minutes every morning.
Next year we fly south.
If you really loved me, you'd bring me coffee. (Quickly & Silently)
Of course it's Monday, this ain't my Friday face.
Coffee ready yet?
Hey, when I woke up this morning, I had no idea I was going to be this fabulous either.
Too much morning...not enough coffee.
I could have hatched in Hawaii, but NOOOO...
I'm not addicted to coffee. Much.
My favorite part of winter? When it's over.
You had me at "hot coffee."
I'm not cut out for winter...I want my flip flops!
My favorite winter activity is going back inside where it's warm.

  8. Frostbite sucks. We have a few with frostbite. They have been moved into the garage and have heatlamps. Best we can do atm. Love and hugs to the boys in the mancave and to Doc Brown as she continues to recuperate!! <3 <3

We were not planning on chicks this spring, however a devastating visit from a racoon just moments before we arrived home to lock up the girls last week has changed that plan. I see an auto door and a new brooder in my future. Thanks for the oportunity to enter this wonderful giveaway.

I would love to hatch chicks from my silkie but she avoids the rooster when she's thinking of being broody. We will have to snatch some when she's not broody and see what we get!

I have 2 hens and 1 rooster, would love to hatch some babies this spring. My husband used an incubator, but I had to leave them at his mother's house or be accused of stealing them..anyway, the only other option I have is to let them hatch on their own and my one year old hens are not sitting on them...they have also stopped laying at all this winter..

  188. We could really put this to good use... A batch of new babes soon :)
