Well I never really thought using the traditional heat lamps was that bad UNTIL today! I got 6 baby chicks last week and today the lamp fell down in the box, freaking out the chicks who got the waterer splashed on them & got super overheated with the lamp on the floor. When I found them they had dried but down was 'crispy' from the perspiration & poopy water - they've been washed and blow dried & seem to have recovered but I have LEARNED my lesson! Hope I win one :)

There seems to be a lot of stuff up inside (where I'd have to take screws out to clean).

Great blog and great info. I have been using a homemade version of an EcoGlow (heating pad over a baking rack and raised up with small condiment cups). but would love to win the real thing!
