Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers Tutorial

MATERIALS
low-heeled shoes (I found some at a thrift store)
ruby red spray paint
clear acrylic gloss spray
ruby red glitter
newspaper
painter's tape 
steel wool (optional)
2, 1/3" wooden dowels
drill
hammer
black & white striped tights
bubble wrap

TECHNIQUE
1. Scuff up leather with steel wool. Stuff shoes with newspaper, tape off inside of shoe with painters' tape. 

2.  Spray shoe with red paint and immediately sprinkle with glitter. Allow to dry.

3. Seal with acrylic spray. Dry completely.

4. Drill 1/2" holes in the back of the shoes & insert dowel in shoe. 

5. Tap dowels into ground with hammer.

6. Fill bottom portion of tights with bubble wrap, tie off tights at waist & insert tights into shoes. Tuck waist-end of tights underneath house, chicken coop, chair, wherever.

I was impressed with their products and will definitely be buying from them from now on since my current supplier is way too expensive and I don't believe the quality is as good.   171. It appears that our three hens are molting. Do they still lay eggs when they molt and how long is it supposed to take for them to grow their new feathers in?
    I never paid much attention to this molting, as I figured 'it just took too much out of them"! lol

    I love decorating, especially for my grandchildren, who when they arrive home from daycare, never know what they will find on the wrap around porch to their house...this would be great, but at 3 yr old, I am not sure she has seen The Wizard of Oz yet, and I think it might be alittle on the scary side at this age, but I will keep this idea in mind for the future! Or maybe just do it and surprise my neighbor when she wanders over to the coops on her daily walk by.....LOL
