Flock Focus Friday 9/12/14 featuring a Sweet PDZ GIVEAWAY!

Doc Brown is a White Crested Black Polish hen.
Just when you thought things couldn't get any more interesting in the fight against city hall to keep my chickens- they have. There have been some developments that have caused me to revise my legal strategy and with your support, both moral and financial, I have the flexibility of deploying. I am not at liberty to disclose the details yet, but I should be soon! I cannot tell you how grateful I am for your support in all its forms and I promise to fight the good fight for Chicken Justice.

I think the front lawn of city hall would benefit from a small flock of free-range chickens, don't you?
If you would like to WRITE/CALL the instigators of this wasteful litigation to let them know your thoughts, please do! If you have already sent an email, please RE-SEND it- better yet share PHOTOS of your CHICKENS with them!

  19. Wow... I'm the first one to comment; that's a first! I just bought my first bag of PDZ's Koop Clean today, which I learned about on your blog. I was surprised at how soft the bedding way... love it! It would be great to win a bag of Sweet PDZ's to add to my left over pine shavings. I'm trying to come up with a new bedding plan for the winter. I'm convinced Sweet PDZ's will be included in that plan to some degree.
Thanks for all you do! It always amazes me that you respond to nearly every question/post. We chicken people couldn't do what we do without you!!!

  23. Okay. That is really weird. I was literally just reading up on Sweet PDZ and telling the hubs the benefits of it for our coops, and why I want to spend the extra money on it (and how it can also be used in the cat box (his chore lol) to help with that odor too - and boom! Got my notification about your new blog entry. With a Sweet PDZ giveaway! How crazy is that?!! I really want to give it a try and see how well it will work with my babies <3

On to your legal fight - I will definitely send out emails to both parties - with pictures of my FIDS along with them! Keep up the good fight! You will prevail, Kathy. The good always do!

I love Sweet PDZ. I use it in all my animals (horses, chickens, goats, and rabbits) housings. Hope your battle with your town is soon resolved. Don't they have better things to do than waste so much time and resources on what sounds like the personal vendettas of a couple of people? I would think your fellow tax payers would've tried to put a stop to it already since they're the ones footing the bill. Acreage is acreage, whether you own it or rent it shouldn't matter.

  69. Virginia Curtis9/14/14, 12:13 AM

I would so love to win this! I have suggested it to my husband for the rabbit run, where the chickens can hang out as part of their extended run.
He has has poo-poo-ed it, but I am sure if he had a chance to try it, he would be sold. I'd buy some for him but my medical expenses are eating up the little extra I have for the foreseeable future. If he liked it, he would buy it.

  75. Darla Luckert-Durgen9/14/14, 3:06 AM

hi Kathy, I so agree with having chickens at City Hall! I'm from Fair Oaks California and there are free range chickens all over Old Town, they roam the parks,up and down Main Street, throughout the neighborhood and they sleep in the trees.they also have the right of way on the streetsand you get a stiff fine if you run over 1 of them.I used to go to the park just to watch them. I have since moved to Nebraska.I miss them a lot!
Good luck in your battle to save your chickens. its really sad when people are so petty, go to such lengths and spend so much of the taxpayers money just to get their own way. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  82. No Justice No Peace I like that it's a deal I not only wrote Mr Taylor again but I upped my response to include every one of the email you shared. In fact I think that this is just gone beyond stupid. Mr taylor seems to have not heeded my hard earned advice to resign but instead decided to throw away his already broken moral compass and commit further actual illegal harassment. How sad. I have for the first time written your neighbors. I will find youpersonal email and share what I wrote them for I do not thinkit appropriate to share here However. I would like to remind your supporters to ne positive in their contacts not use vulgar language or threats but just politely respond to these people. I also ask that they pray for your neighbors. Not to ;win; or ;lose; but to remember that we should all be building our homes near the road and being a friend to mankind.(CHICKENKIND TOO)

  92. Hi Kathy! Great info on PDZ and DE. I currently use DE (although not much really, just a sprinkling here and there in corners prone to getting damp) I would much rather use PDZ but cant seem to find it in the UK. Do you know of anything similar available in the UK at all? I've looked on amazon, but shipping of this from the US would cost twice as much as the product itself. Cant wait to see your plans for the next stage of your fight to keep your flock! Good luck.

I've been looking for PDZ ever since I read about it in your blog. The
PDZ website indicates that my local Southern States carries it, but when
I went in and asked for it, they didn't. So, I'd love to win some to
    try it out.

So sorry about your legal problems keeping chickens.
You're one of the resources I used before deciding to do "the chicken
thing" earlier this year. I now have six hens and a rooster of mixed
breeds and am thoroughly enjoying them. They're better than TV for
    amusement!

  181. My girls could use a little deodorizing. The Fla heat ferments things pretty quick, then the rain turns it to stink soup!
