I am borrowing a Brinsea brooder from a friend right now and would love to own my own. It is a great way to safely brood chicks without a mother hen. I love how the chicks go under the brooder for warmth and to sleep and play on top of it, just as if it was their mother. There is no stress involved for both the peepers and their people. :)

That broader is needed. It makes it easier, and safer than following my great-grandparents, example, of bringing them inside, and putting them indie a wooden box with three high sides, and a low side, next to the woodworking stove. They did this so many times, it seemed as they were sharing the co-op with the hens, and chicks.
