Flock Focus Friday 6/13/14

Lola is a Columbian Wyandotte.
This week alternated between rainy and sunny, which has been great for the flowers and for the puddle drinkers in the flock. I have been busy offline chatting with two new sponsors that I'll be  introducing to you soon- I know you're going to be excited about their products and the giveaways we've got in store for you! Speaking of sponsors and giveaways...my peeps at Lucerne Farms have been busily working to get Koop Klean into stores near you and have another giveaway for you this week! If you would like to see Koop Clean carried locally, click here for details about how to make it happen!
Broody Silkie hen.
Freida went broody this week, so I set her up in the maternity ward with Koop Clean as bedding. I put the eggs in the makeshift nest box for her and she literally wasted no time thinking about it and walked right in immediately to keep them warm! Best broody mom ever.

My P. Allen Smithlings are getting ginormous! These two are a Dorkings pair. Can you tell which one is the cockerel? Besides the fact that he's sleeping in the middle of a crowd, if you read my article on sexing chickens this week, you'll notice some obvious physical features that distinguish him from her.

I love your cochins and frizzles. I have a couple of polish cresteds and sexlink/silkie cross chicks growing right now, can't wait until they mature. They look like red silkies!

  10. The bedding sounds like a fantastic product! I think it is also exciting that Frieda is broody. Do you know what types of eggs she will be hatching? Love all the pictures of your beautiful chickens. And I can tell which one of the Dorkings is the male because his crown is so much more prominent. :)

I totally want to try this stuff! I have lavender orpingtons hatching in 21 days and would love to try it. I love the brown river sand in the big girl coop, but it's heavy to move when brooding (in my house) is done. I've called my local co-op and given their info to Lucerne Farms as well. I hope they get it. Might be good for winter, too. :)

  43. Cathy Smith6/13/14, 9:29 PM

would love to try this product out.. not even in my area.. sounds like it is going to be a new rave for many chicken keepers.. I was also wondering I have a huge hill of left over construction sand from many years ago..when we put down 6 inches of cement in the pole barn had to have the sand laid first.. what if I dug some out of the pile.. that now has grass growing on it.. would it be okay.. if I baked it in the sun first?

  44. Stephanie W6/13/14, 9:45 PM

I'm in Colorado' so we don't have Koop Clean yet. I will be calling up my feed stores to let them know I'm extremely interested in getting it for my peeps.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Becke Bogue6/13/14, 9:46 PM

I would love to try this in my brooder! Hatching lavender orpingtons in 21 days and would love to try it instead of dragging sand into and out of my house! River sand has been great for the big girl coop, but Koop Clean seems easier to manage for a brooder, nest boxes, and even for winter bedding. Trying hard to get my local co-op to carry it!!!!

I love your babies, Kathy :) Freida is adorable! We just hatched 2 very sweet silkies the other day - one who is silver (named Misty) and the other who is yellow but may very well turn calico, we're not sure yet - and her name is Butter <3 I would love to try out the Koop Clean - see how it works in the brooders for the older chicks, and if that works out well enough, get it in larger quantities to put in the nesting boxes and the bigger coops! *fingers crossed*

I just wanted to express my gratitude and appreciation to prophet salifu for bringing my husband back to me,I was married to my husband for 4 years and all of a sudden he started seeing another lady (his mistress).he started hailing at me and he was abusive.. and he hated me , but I still loved him with all my heart . the situation made me unsettle and not to focus at work .so a friend told me about trying (prophet salifu )spiritual means to get my husband back and introduced me to him ? i did not listen to her and hoped that my husband will come back home . after 9 month of seperation and depression , it got out of hand and my husband came back home to break the news to me that he want a divorce that he is getting married to his mistress .Hmmm it was so shocking to me ,i felt sad and more depressed ,so i contacted my friend again and decieded to try to use spiritual means reluctantly..although I didn't believe in all those things? I never thought in a million years that i will get my husband back to me a again. but I was proved wrong.after 24 hours, my husband came back and was pleading..he had realized his mistakes..i just couldn't believe it that we are back together. I am deeply satisfied and thankful with prophet salifu work .if you also want to fix you marriage or relationship email him at prophetsalifu@yahoo.com or prophetsalifu@gmail.com , his work is for a better life .

I've mentioned this at the two stores I buy chicken supplies from. One seems disposed to try some, the other is too stuck on what they have. But I'll mention it again. I need some of this because my chicks are picky chicks about what they step on.

I called my local Valley Ag and they were more than happy to carry on :)

  177. It smells so fresh! We only have that bag so far. When we went to the feed store yesterday, there was no more in inventory, yet. We are going to use this in one of the smaller coops at first. If it is not at our regular store when we need more for the rest, we shall just go to one of their other stores, which does have it in inventory.
