Flock Focus Friday 3/28/14

Flock Focus Friday with The Chicken Chick
Spring struggled mightily to arrive as scheduled this week, but more of winter's freezing temperatures over-stayed their welcome. There is light at the end of the tunnel though as we look forward to temps in the 50s this coming week.
I have to believe that drinking the snow melt is my flock's idea of helping erase The Eternal Winter.

  168. What a neat idea for a nest box. I like Loni's idea of lower to the ground and safer for newly hatched chicks.

  179. This would be great to have. But I imagine it would be like every other nest box I put out there for the girls to use, they ignore it and use the dog house or the goat shelter.

I have been trying to look for something to put in my Silkie pen. Theres two Silkie hens and one Mille Fleur Duccle. One nest box would be great!

I love this idea. You wouldn't have to worry about blocking off the nest boxes to keep the pullets from sleeping in the nest box of a new coop. You could just wait and install them when they are getting close to laying.

Never thought to create an "add on" nest box...my coop's boxes are built ins. But now that I see it, it could be totally helpful! Thanks for the introduction.
