Love your blog and the information I am gathering from it. We are building our first coop now and can't wait to get our chicks! Thanks for all of the help. We could really use the EcoGlow. It looks great and sounds like a safe option.

  4. Kathy,
I'm glad to join you with this week's recipes. It's an eclectic bunch from me. To start, I joined with Nicole of The Giving Table to raise awareness and funds for The Lunchbox Fund with a goal of feeding 100 children in South Africa lunch for a year. We're close to reaching our goal--and I shared what I feed my kids for lunch: Multigrain Sourdough Bread (in a bread machine). I've got a simple side dish featuring the fat & sassy leeks from our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm share: Cheesy Leeks and Orzo. Finally I made a Valentine's treat for one: Quick Pickled Herring and Beet Salad. Isn't it worth it to show love to yourself?
    Thanks for hosting!

I have one hen that loves to be broody. Her name is Dandelion and she's a Lemon Cuckoo Orpington.... she's broody more than my silkies! So it was perfect timing when she went broody last week because I hoped to pick up a couple of sweet chicks this week and give them to her to raise. Well, with all the snow we got this past week, she must have decided it wasn't a good time to be broody and hopped off of her nest. I definitely need one of these Brinsea Eco Glows as a back up mama! :-)
