Gifts for the Chicken Addict!

Friends and relatives of chicken addicts don't always "get" the whole chicken-keeping thing, but there are many products that would be tremendously valuable to the chicken keeper in their lives, which would be wildly appreciated as a gift, so I've rounded up some of my favorite things in the helpful, practical and/or fun and frivolous categories. I hope they help!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blogs and site! Yours is my first go-to place for creative ideas and advice! Question: I would LOVE to be able to enter into some of your contests... so does the winner HAVE to LIVE in the US or can they have a US address to send it to if they won? We are in Canada and buy frequently from the US but we pay a brokerage company that is in the US as a legal way to ship across the border... and theirs is an American address... could that work for contests? Where the winner is responsible for shipping outside of the US? I'm wondering if it is a "legal" thing or just a shipping issue?

  92. I am VERY NEW to chickens. We have just 5....and I am rethinking the wisdom of trying chickens in the winter. Additionally, we live in the midst of "predator-ville"; So I would very much like to put the:
Predator Preventer Solar Garden Farm Livestock Pet Protector Defense System

on my wish list!! I put the "Happy Hens Treat Ball" on my wish list because I throw out kitchen scraps but these 5 chickens dont seem to know what to do....we rescued these 5 from a high production egg farm....so feet on the ground, wing spreading space, sunshine: all NEW to them!

Naturally, of course Grandpa's feed is top on my wish list: It is so frustrating to lose good feed because they continually poop on the feeder (a round one)...Sigh. Chickening has a HUGE LEARNING curve for me...I am praying that I master the learning curve before the winter is over and still have my 5 chicks. :-)

I love your posts....very encouraging!!! I want chicken houses like you have also. :-)

I love chicken stuff! That night guard looks pretty good. I need something to keep raccoons and opossums away from my babies. A Grandpa's Feeder would be great for keeping mt girls' food in one place!

  123. Our little in-town backyard flock could benefit from so many of these amazing items you've compiled! What great list you've made :-). Needs do outweigh wants at our house, so my list will say....
    Chicken House of any kind
    Grandpa's Feeder
    Chicken Waterer
Thank you for all the time you put into keeping us informed!

Scheesh! Only 2 or 3? lol! Well. Grandpa's feeder is now at the top of my list, since thanks to you and Frank, I now have the Chicken Fountain!, that's 1. 2 & 3 would have to be the Brinsea incubator and brooder. I'm assuming that I'll need them as I think one of the RSL's chicks we bought this past Sept is actually a Roo. Thanks for your help in all things chicken (and then some!).

Great idea, my loved ones have issues with giving me miter saws and chicken things. They say it's not girly enough and they don't want to be known as the husband etc that gave a saw for christmas. My response was I need the saw to build more chicken coops so how about a saw and a spa gift certificate lol. I think it might have worked because there is now a big box under the tree for me :) Great news to, came home from work to find one of my Tolbunt babies hatched out, I hope some of the others hatch soon. I'm sure it would love a Grandpas feeder in the new coop I'm going to build which my Christmas present.
