Scratch and Peck Feeds GIVEAWAY!

I’m pleased to introduce you to my newest sponsor, Scratch and Peck Feeds! The company’s owner, Diana Ambauen-Meade, contacted me about her feeds and while I was interested in hearing what she had to say, what I learned about the company philosophy and Diana herself persuaded me that you would want to hear more about both.
Diana’s goal of feeding her own flock organic, whole grain, soy-free, non-GMO food gave rise to the establishment of Scratch and Peck Feed. What’s unique about Scratch and Peck is that they source the freshest, highest quality grains possible from local farms in the Pacific Northwest, which supports the local economy. Scratch and Peck specializes in chicken feeds and supplements and also makes custom feeds for pigs, goats and turkeys.

When asked about what makes Scratch and Peck feeds different, here is what Diana told me:
  • In June of 2013 they became the first feed company in North America to be both independently non-GMO verified by the Non-GMO Project and certified organic by the USDA. (click here to read GMO Myths and Truths)
  • All of their feeds are soy-free and their “Naturally Free” line of feeds is also corn-free.
  • Their grains are whole or cracked rather than heat processed into pellets which they believe denigrates nutritional values.
  • Their feed ingredients include wheat, barley, peas, corn, camelina mealflax meal, limestone and oyster shell, kelp, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and probiotics.
It's safe to say that this mother hen approves of Scratch and Peck Starter Feed for her little ones.

Scratch and Peck is a nominee for Martha Stewart’s Made in America contest where the Audience Choice Grand Prize Award winner will receive $10,000 to further their business, which could involve replicating their small feed mill model using locally grown, organic grains in other areas of the country!  Click HERE to vote for Scratch and Peck Feeds!

As a vegetarian that finds soy in just about everything... it is neat to see someone find an alternative. I bet it is incredibly healthy for the birds! How exciting!

I would love to try this out. Eventually, we want to be able to make our own but this stuff is pretty close (if not exactly) what we want for our chickens.

  196. My chickens & I love this feed. I live in the Pacific Northwest and have been using scratch & peck since my birds were young. They are healthy and it shows in their beautiful plumage. I like that their products really look like what they are. You see real grains in the feed and the oyster shell, well looks like it came right out of the ocean. I can feel good about what I'm feeding my birds, this is important to me.
