Clever Chicks Blog Hop #47 includes Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng & Honey Imposter Recipe

One impulse purchase during a shopping trip this summer created an Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng & Honey junkie out of me. I was drinking the stuff like a fish when it occurred to me that there had to be a knock-off recipe for it somewhere. I found lots of them and tinkered with them until I hit upon the version that passed my side-by-side taste test. Mine costs pennies per gallon to make and has no high fructose corn syrup! Here's the dealio:

ARIZONA GREEN TEA WITH HONEY & GINSENG IMPOSTER RECIPE
Makes One Gallon

2 green tea bags
2 tablespoons clover honey
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon American ginseng (must be American)
juice of one freshly squeezed lemon
16 cups of water

In a tea pot or pan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add tea bags and steep for one hour. Add sugar, honey, ginseng and lemon juice to the tea. Pour into a one gallon container & fill with remaining 12 cups of water. Voilà! Chill & enjoy.

I LOVE this site! I have the happiest chickens around thanks to Kathy! I constantly refer to Kathy! I do just about everything that is posted...growing herbs to place in coop, scrambled egg pops, bobbin' for berries trays, the handmade pvc pipe feeders, etc. I don't know what I would do without Kathy! <3

  9. We've been making our own version of the Tazo Tea from Starbucks. In that case you can actually go and get the actual recipe from the tea box you can buy in the store! And it costs pennies compared to the real deal. We've been swimming in pitcherfuls it seems this summer. I'll have to try the Arizona one cause my husband love their teas.

    Kathy,
Thank you so much for sharing a DIY green tea recipe--you reminded me that first thing this morning I set out a pitcher of my DIY peach tea to brew in the sunny breakfast nook window . . . and that's where it still sits!
This time, it will be a strong tea ;)

Today I'm linking up a fast appetizer for two or dinner for one--Fattoush Dip. The base is hummus, and I share my recipe for Kale and Sumac hummus so you get a two-fer in this post.
I've also got a crunchy cheesy Baked Eggplant Chip Pizza, and tomorrow when it goes live, I'll pop back in and share my Mediterranean Tomato Tart.

I absolutely love your blog and Facebook posts! I had been without hens for 15 years and I couldn't take it anymore. What started out as 3 turned into 2 (can't have a rooster in the city) and I'm currently at 7 with more to come (but don't share that with my husband). In September I'm heading to the Oregon Fall Chicken Swap and can't wait. I love my ladies, they have awesome personalities and are spoiled rotten. Thank you for all of the wonderful advice, ideas and information. I've shared you with all off my chicken friend's.

I hope I win someday... Other thing: I am using sand in my 8'x6' run and it is great. Except the girls didn't have anything to peck when they are in there. Now I add a big pile of grass clippings every evening when I do my clean-up. They love it and by the next evening, the grass has been spread to every part of the run! I simply rake it up, use a cat box scoop to get the poop left in the sand, and start over.

Losing out on the book time and again, I finally bought my own copy. And tho' parts of it are pretty graphic, gross and don't pertain to us (vegetarians) I do appreciate others.
However, it was not helpful in diagnosing the mystery illness our Buff Orpington has which keeps her from eating and drinking. Therefore, my ex-EMT husband has decided to tube feed the poor gal himself (also not in the book.)

okay...45 minutes later I make to the bottom...;0) I suppose that is the dangers of wandering through the wonderland of a blog hop. It was a very amusing trip. I am here to tell you that I am very much in need therefore am begging pick me pick me for the book. As I posted in google+ my girls and they companions have devoured my whole garden. They ate the whole plants! I didn't realize they would do that. So as I ramble... Thanks for the great connections and the opportunity.
