Thanks for the give-a-way!  Have just started with hens and love my time with them!  We are on a super tight budget, so built a chicken coop out of pallets!  Only material purchased were screws.  Not as beautiful as what you have, but it works!

  94. Buy some live meal worms from the pet store.  Take a bucket add some oats, bran, chicken feed -any dry grains or cereal will do.  Add the live mealworms to the mix.  Once a week I put in a slice of bread or a slice of potato or apple for moisture -they love it.  The worms will turn into larvae then beetles that lay eggs - at this stage you can move the beatles to a new bucket to start another colony of mealwroms.  And presto you have mealworms whenever you want.  They are not smelly or dirty.

I like reading posts on this sight. I'm a first time chickie owner and I get good tips here, especially for the heat. It can get to 112 here in CA. At least where I have the coop, during the hottest part of the day, they have shade, but will definately be taking precautions.

    ReplyDelete
  137. This is a great information which I am getting from this blog. I never use these treats for my girls but after reading this blog, I would like to use it.
