Clever Chicks Blog Hop #2. Featured Post: Peafowl 101

Welcome to the Clever Chicks Blog Hop #2!  Thank you to all of the participants last week for linking up to the first Clever Chicks Blog Hop!  There was such a diversity of topics from chicken care to bee-keeping, homemade laundry soap to lemon cupcakes and everything in between!

This week's Featured blog post, Peafowl 101, is a fascinating introduction to peafowl by Jennifer Louden, the author of 6 Little Chickies-Life on Louden Farms. Jennifer and her husband Jay live with their four animal-loving children on a small farm in Northeast Ohio. Besides children, they raise chickens, peafowl, ducks, goats, a mini donkey, a Maremma Sheepdog and a potbellied pig named Duckie.

  1. I love your story! I have a 18 x 71' pen out back just waiting for me to make the final decision to get chickens. I've looked at the Murray McMurray catalog and contemplate all the future pets - but worry about my German Shepherd making 'friends' with them.

Thanks for following Cranberry Morning! I followed back, and look forward to reading your blog. I have a special offer for my homemade soaps for new followers, but couldn't find your e-mail address. I will be happy to share it with you if you want to send me your e-mail address. Have a happy chicken day! Send to damaz(at)chibardun(dot)net.

    1. Your concern about the dog is valid. Dogs are the #1 killer of backyard chickens and often, it's the owner's dog. Sometimes they think they're playing with the chickens and other times, their instincts just take over. It's definitely something to think about when planning for chickens. Often times, good fences make good neighbors. ;)

    1. I think it's just a new set up. Make sure you add the chicken chick link FIRST to your post before doing the link. I finally figured it out and updated my post before submitting the link and it worked. Hope this helps!
