My Facebook page and blog were started as a way for me to connect with people who shared a common interest, namely, chickens. Over time, I have had the privilege of connecting with countless people on any number of topics, some related to chicken-keeping, some not, but the joy of it for me has been in making real connections with real people and sharing ideas.
I have been a guest at any number of Blog Link-up parties around the internet and, in my opinion, it is at least as much fun to host a party as it is to attend one. So, I have been working for weeks on putting together my Blog Link-up party and YOU'RE INVITED!
If you're not familiar with link-up parties/linky parties/blog hops, they are a simple and fun way to share your blog posts with a whole new audience. It's quick and easy to participate and there's no clean-up involved! Please feel free to join me this week and every week.
Despite the blog hop title, this is an equal-opportunity link party!
On your way down to the Clever Chicks blog hop link-up, please enjoy a few snapshots of some of my fondest New England autumn moments.
I invite you to follow my blog to get the latest posts delivered directly to your email inbox, Google dashboard, by NetworkedBlogs on Facebook or RSS feed!

I've been reading your blog for a while now. I'm in Poland and Norway and in neither country is keeping chickens popular in urban settings. We are also very limited in breeds and do not have all the types of chickens you write about. I hope that as time goes and people are more aware of what they eat and where it comes from, keeping chickens in urban settings becomes more popular.
ReplyDeleteMost of my friends and family associate chickens with food only, and not as funny and wonderful animals that can bring a lot of joy and laughter. I hope to change that one day with my own flock. Actually, because I do post a lot of chicken-related information on facebook, a lot of my friends are becoming intrigued about the idea of keeping chickens, but the idea is still new and will take time to mainstream.
Looking forward to more of your writing.
Thank you for bringing such good information and great distractions to us on a timely basis. :)
ReplyDeleteI live in Poland and Norway where keeping chickens as pets is not hugely popular. In both countries, chickens are associated with food only and many people do not care to get to know these birds as something different than that. It is changing though and I can see that a lot of my friends are very intrigued when seeing my posts about chicken keeping. We are also limited in breeds, in Norway especially. However I am seeing a lot of changes in Poland in regards to eating habits. People are becoming more health aware and want to know where their food comes from. And that is my biggest argument when discussing chickens with friends and family (in both countries) healthy eggs, healthy gardens and wonderful animals.
ReplyDeleteI do have to admit that I am a huge sucker for the floppy combs.
I NEED this chicken bag! Love your posts and blogs....
ReplyDeleteI linked up! :) Those purses are just too cute!!
ReplyDeleteI had to go ahead order a chicken purse, but if I win one I will be eggtraordinarily happy :-) Love my Chickens... Bren Da

ReplyDeleteI do hope it's alright to enter as a Canadian follower! I think that I could make quite the fashion statement here with that Henbag! ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteThis is a timely giveaway.... our dear old mother hen died this morning and we are heartbroken here, especially the girls. Henrietta came to us in a group of rescued hens and was noticeably the oldest in the bunch. She never laid an egg (that we know of) while with us but enjoyed hanging out with us on the patio near the pond. She followed me around the yard while I cared for the gardens and adopted our chicks and peeps and guarded them like they were her own. Oh the stories I could tell! I loved how she'd stand behind the little ones puffed up ready to pounce on whoever thought about being rough with them, while letting the littles try to handle it for themselves first :) So sweet.
Thanks for all your beautiful pictures and smiles you bring all us chicken lovers!
Julie
I am so sorry to hear about your flock matriarch, Julie. It's good to know that her golden years were spent being well loved and cared for. RIP Henrietta.

ReplyDeletemustanggtsally@yahoo.com
I am not sure if my comment posted or not. I don't see it, so will try again just in case. Anyway, I too enjoy chickens. We've been raising them since 1991, I think. I tend to go for the dual-purpose breeds, ones that are winter-hearty, as we live in north central Wisconsin where it gets cold in winter. Nothing beats the flavor of a farm fresh egg! Would love to have one of the chicken purses and yes, I would definitely carry it with me. I'm following your blog now--so glad to have discovered it--and your Pinterest board.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Will post pics later. Thank you. Peace and Love V

It's fun sharing information about them. :) I just finished sharing a daily update of my quail chicks development during incubation on facebook! It was fun. On hatch day I heard the babies talking to each other all day long and at about 8:30 they had a synchronized hatch-it went from 0 to 20 in less than an hour! (26 total)

ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOUR PAGE,BLOG,AND PINTEREST! -Kelsi Beer
ReplyDeleteChickens are wonderful entertainment and a very good tool to teach grandchildren about responsibility while having fun at the same time. I have an incubabor that I have hatched baby chicks at times. It is miraculous that a chick forms and hatches in only 21 days! I have a silkie serama mix rooster that is a real character and he loves his big girls. My grown daughters tell me that a chicken handbag is my style and they could see me with one of those! I love unique and unusual clothes and items. I don't care what the fashion world dictates.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your blog & FB page! I am a "follower" via Google Connect & Facebook. ♥
ReplyDelete~Pamela
Wonder what my clients would think if I carried a bag like this? Awesome! :0)

ReplyDeleteI just came across your Blog, and absolutely love it! I loved hatching them and watching them grow and hope to keep chickens again someday soon!
